The arrest of prominent pro-Palestine activists and journalists under the UK’s “anti-terrorism” laws has sparked a wave of concern on social media about the state’s censorship of ideas.

This comes after police raided the home of well-known pro-Palestine activist Sarah Wilkinson on August 29 and confiscated all of her electronic devices, following her posts about the Palestinian cause.

Wilkinson, 61, has been very active in the pro-Palestine scene in the UK for many years, and has dedicated her life to activism and highlighting Israel’s crimes against Palestinians, having visited Palestine a few years ago.

Wilkinson’s arrest sparked outrage on social media, with the hashtag #FreeSarahWilkinsonNow trending, with people claiming that Prime Minister Keir Starmer had turned the UK into a “bloody police state.”

Activists said Wilkinson, who has been placed under house arrest, had refused a request from British police to reveal the exact location of her Palestinian sources in Gaza.
