Iraq Honors Martyr Sinwar and Denounces Saudi Channel MBC Amid Widespread Outrage
Iraq has condemned the latest Zionist crime, the assassination of the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), the great martyr Yahya Sinwar. The country extended its condolences to the leadership of Hamas and all its fighters for the loss of the great field commander, who struck fear into the heart of the occupiers and filled it with terror.
In this context, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, Iraq’s acting Speaker of Parliament, expressed his condolences “to the Arab and Islamic nations, the Axis of Resistance for al-Quds, the men of the resistance in Palestine and every corner of the world, particularly Hamas, on the martyrdom of their political leader, the mujahid commander Yahya Sinwar, during his heroic clash with Zionist forces in Rafah.”
In a statement marking Sinwar’s martyrdom, Al-Mandalawi declared: “The blood of the nation’s leaders and fighters, shed unjustly and aggressively on the path to Palestine, demonstrates the greatness and significance of the cause for which the martyrs sacrificed their lives.” He added that “resistance is a project that does not end with the martyrdom of its leaders; rather, it becomes more deeply rooted within the nation. All those who have walked this path believe that martyrdom is the way to victory and immortality, and such a project will not die.”
The Iraqi Speaker affirmed that “the pure spirit of Sinwar will remain present, fighting alongside his people and his nation until the land is liberated from the occupier, the rights are restored, and injustice is lifted.”
Meanwhile, the Coordination Framework, the largest parliamentary coalition in Iraq’s Council of Representatives, stated: “The martyr Sinwar was a true extension of the fighters who devoted their lives to confronting this vile, humiliating, and despicable entity.”
The Coordination Framework added in its statement: “We offer our condolences to the noble Palestinian people, as well as to the family and relatives of the martyr. We assure them that the blood of the martyrs will ignite the spirit of defiance in every free soul until victory is achieved and all the land is liberated.”
Furthermore, the head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Sheikh Humam Hamoudi, emphasized that “resistance is a culture, a thought, and a belief that does not die with the martyrdom of one of its heroes. Rather, the blood of its martyrs strengthens the fighters, making them more determined to continue on the path to Allah… Yahya Sinwar is a brilliant example of courage, bravery, and the spirit of defiance against occupation, oppression, and Zionist bloodshed. He lived his life as a resistance fighter and died confronting the enemy in the clearest of battles between the axis of faith and the axis of disbelief and misguidance.”
Sheikh Hamoudi offered his condolences to “Hamas, the resistance, and all the free people everywhere for the loss of the martyr Sinwar,” and congratulated them “for the honor of his heroism, victories, and the dignity of martyrdom in the path of Allah.”
In addition, Hussein Moneis, the head of the Parliamentary Rights Bloc, stressed that “the Zionist entity has violated all norms in its war against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, adopting a scorched earth policy without regard for lives or property.”
Moneis pointed out that “the Zionist entity failed to achieve its military objectives in its wars on Gaza and Lebanon, just as the Islamic Resistance in Hezbollah foiled the New Middle East plan during the 2006 July War.” He added that “the Zionist entity is not a state, but an occupying force, and to Iraq, it is akin to the terrorist ISIS gangs. While Iraq may not be a direct party in the current confrontation, it is firmly in the support camp.”
He warned that this occupying entity “seeks to swallow up western Iraq, Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon in its pursuit of establishing a Jewish state from the Nile to the Euphrates. The region is a battlefield for this entity’s ‘state’ project, and its failure to expand since 1948 was due to the positions of resistance movements and regional states.”
Yahya Sinwar was martyred in Rafah on Thursday evening while he was on the ground directing battles against the occupying Zionist entity.
In a related development, angry protesters stormed the headquarters of Saudi-owned MBC Iraq in Baghdad, smashing its property before setting the building on fire. This came in response to the channel’s attack on resistance leaders, labeling them as terrorists. At the same time, Iraqi politicians and members of parliament declared that this channel and others like it have no place in Iraq and that efforts will be made to revoke its license.
The channel had aired a report on the assassination of martyr Yahya Sinwar, in which it labeled Sinwar, along with martyrs Ismail Haniyeh, Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, Qasem Soleimani, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, as terrorists, placing them in the same category as terrorist Osama bin Laden.
It is expected that pressure on the Iraqi government and relevant authorities, such as the Communications and Media Commission, will intensify to take appropriate action to revoke the license of this channel and any other channels that insult resistance leaders, Iraq, or the Iraqi people as soon as possible.
