The Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Authority stated that the conditions of prisoners in the Israeli Megiddo Prison remain difficult and harsh, with food scarce and personal hygiene supplies lacking.

The Authority’s lawyer said on Wednesday that “prisoner Naseem Hosni Hamad (26 years old), a resident of Sidon, northeast of Tulkarm, is in Section 2, Room 1, of Megiddo Prison. He has been detained since December 21, 2023, and suffers from dizziness and constant headaches.”

She added that “the prison administration is deliberately neglecting him medically and refusing to give him a painkiller or take him to the prison clinic.

He has been suffering from scabies for 15 months and has received treatment, but he continues to suffer from the humidity, lack of ventilation, and lack of personal hygiene in the prison.”

In his testimony before the Commission’s lawyer, prisoner Hamad stated that “the duration of the break is supposed to be an hour, but in reality, it’s only half an hour, as the prison administration deducts a full half hour for the number of prisoners, and the remainder isn’t enough for all the prisoners to wash.”

Regarding food, he said he lost 24 kilograms as a result of the systematic starvation policy in the Zionist enemy’s prisons, where the food is poor and insufficient.
