Human Rights Watch: US Support Emboldens “Israel” to Continue Killing Civilians

Human Rights Watch said that pressure must be brought to bear on “Israel” to lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip, which has caused an unprecedented fifth-degree famine.

Omar Shakir, director of Human Rights Watch’s office in occupied Palestine, emphasized in media statements on Tuesday that US complicity under President Joe Biden, which has intensified under Donald Trump, is what emboldens “Israel” to continue killing more civilians, most of whom are children and women.

He pointed out that what “Israel” is doing in Gaza constitutes war crimes and crimes against humanity that the entire world has failed to stop.

Shakir explained that the Israeli government’s use of starvation as a tactic constitutes a war crime, violating all international laws and conventions.

The Israeli political decision to use children as a tool of pressure constitutes an unprecedented war crime.

Human Rights Watch urged governments and international organizations to take all necessary measures to prevent genocide in Gaza, halt military aid, review bilateral agreements and diplomatic relations, and support the International Criminal Court and other accountability efforts.
