Hamas: Lifting UNRWA’s Legal Immunity Is US Bias in Efforts to Liquidation

Hamas said that the US Department of Justice’s decision to lift the legal immunity of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) once again embodies the US President’s administration’s bias toward the policies of the Zionist occupation and its systematic efforts to liquidate the UN agency.

Hamas stressed in a press statement issued Saturday evening that UNRWA represents a political and humanitarian symbol that embodies the right of Palestinian refugees to relief and return to their homes from which they were forcibly displaced.

Hamas condemned the dangerous US decision and called on the US administration to immediately rescind it. It also called on the international community to reject and confront it, and to emphasize the importance of continued support for UNRWA and maintaining its political and legal status as a United Nations institution.

Hamas renewed its call on Washington to cease its blind bias toward the Israeli enemy and its crimes, end its active participation in the ongoing aggression against our people, particularly in the Gaza Strip, and work to correct its political course, which makes it a direct partner in violations of international law and crimes of genocide.
