The Muslim Council of Elders condemned the extremist incitement calls by Zionist settler organizations calling for the bombing of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Council, chaired by Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, affirmed its categorical rejection of such extremist calls, which constitute a provocation to the feelings of nearly two billion Muslims around the world and constitute a flagrant violation of international laws and conventions.

The Council also condemns the violations against Christians in Jerusalem, including the denial of access to churches and physical assaults.

He called for the need to provide adequate protection for religious sanctities, halt the ongoing violations against the Palestinian people, and recognize their legitimate right to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
