The US Department of Defense dismissed Colonel Nathan McCormack, who advised the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on issues related to "Israel," after he published a series of tweets that included sharp criticism of Israeli policies, particularly during the aggression on the Gaza Strip.
The Daily Wire reported on Wednesday, citing the Joint Chiefs of Staff, that the incident was referred to the US military for further investigation and appropriate action, while McCormack's account was deleted from social media platforms.
In his posts, McCormack described "Israel" as "our worst ally," noting that partnership with it "brings the United States nothing but the enmity of millions of people in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia."
He also criticized the West's silence regarding "Israeli" crimes, motivated by "guilt over the Holocaust." In a prominent tweet, he noted that Israel's military responses are "always" disproportionate and target Palestinian civilians. He also accused the so-called Zionist enemy Prime Minister and war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu of "seeking to prolong the conflict for political and personal purposes."
McCormack's dismissal sparked renewed debate about the limits of freedom of expression within the US military, specifically regarding expressions of opposition to Israeli policies, amid accusations that political considerations are being prioritized over constitutional freedoms.
With absolute American support, the Zionist enemy has been committing genocidal crimes in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving approximately 185,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands displaced.
