Lima Bastami, Director of the Legal Department at the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, said that life in the Gaza Strip is now confined to a vicious, inescapable cycle of death. It begins with the deliberate bombing of civilian areas, causing the wounded to bleed to death, while the sick face their fate alone as the health system collapses, while the missing remain trapped under the rubble.

Bastami explained in a statement on Friday that survivors seek refuge in tents devoid of the most basic necessities of life. The siege then tightens the cycle with systematic starvation, while anyone attempting to reach an aid point is targeted with bullets and shells.

She added that this calculated and horrific sequence, which combines starvation, systematic deprivation of the necessities of life, and direct killing from every angle, proves Israel's intention to destroy civilians in Gaza, partially or completely, fulfilling the elements of the crime of genocide.

She emphasized that the continuation of the Israeli genocide machine, amid international inaction, closes the circle of justice for the entire world, just as the circle of death closed for the people of Gaza.

She pointed out that all countries must act now to stop this ongoing crime in Gaza, hold its perpetrators accountable, and salvage what remains of the legitimacy of the international system.
