Ravina Shamdasani, spokesperson for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, said yesterday, Friday, that "613 people have been killed near humanitarian aid centers in the Gaza Strip in nearly a month."

Shamdasani added in a statement that among the dead were 509 people in the vicinity of the Gaza Humanitarian Relief Foundation, which is run by the United States and Israel.

She added: "It is clear that the Israeli army shelled and opened fire on Palestinians who were trying to reach the distribution points of the Gaza Humanitarian Relief Foundation."

Shamdasani confirmed that information continues to be received about incidents in the area, stressing that this is "unacceptable."

The Israeli-American mechanism for distributing aid in Gaza, as of last Thursday, had resulted in 652 deaths and more than 4,537 injuries, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
