Ansarollah website - Palestine - Muharram 21, 1447 AH

Suicides have escalated among the Israeli army since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip. A joint study by Tel Aviv University and the army revealed that 12% of soldiers suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), while the number of suicides since October 2023 has reached more than 43 soldiers, reflecting a worsening psychological crisis that threatens the army's human capital, according to i24NEWS.

The Hebrew website stated that the price of war paid by Israel is not limited to those killed on the battlefield, but also includes soldiers who take their own lives upon their return, as a result of psychological trauma.

The Israeli army has witnessed four suicides in less than two weeks, the most recent of which was a soldier from the Nahal Brigade inside a base in northern Israel.

According to the website, two of the suicides were in regular service, and two others were in the reserves, taking their own lives after participating in the war.

Data indicates that at least 43 soldiers have committed suicide since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, a higher number than in previous years.

Those suffering from trauma find it difficult to return to military service. Some receive benefits from the Israeli Ministry of Defense, and thousands have been exempted from combat service due to psychological injuries.

Data shows that 15,000 soldiers are receiving ongoing monitoring by the Ministry of Defense, 35% of whom are due to psychological symptoms.
