UN experts said that "twenty months of attacks by the Israeli enemy army have led, among other things, to widespread patterns of enforced disappearances among Palestinians in Gaza and other parts of the occupied Palestinian territory, including health and care workers, journalists, and other professionals, as well as women and children."
The experts added in a statement that approximately 4,000 Palestinians, including children and the elderly, remain missing since October 7, 2023.
They called for the fate and whereabouts of all victims of enforced disappearance to be revealed.
The experts continued: "Enforced disappearance cannot be justified, even in times of war, instability, or public emergency."
They added, "This has been facilitated by military orders and legislation that permit the indefinite detention without trial of so-called 'unlawful combatants' and others, in violation of international human rights law and international humanitarian law."
