Britain, along with 24 other countries, including France, Japan, Italy, Canada, and Australia, called on Monday for an immediate end to the war on the Gaza Strip and the lifting of all restrictions on the flow of humanitarian aid.
In a joint statement, the 25 countries stressed that the suffering of Palestinian civilians has reached "unprecedented levels." They said they "strongly oppose any steps aimed at demographic change in the occupied Palestinian territories," and condemned "the slow delivery of aid and the restrictions imposed on it."
The signatories to the statement are: Britain, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
The statement read, "We urge the parties and the international community to unite in a joint effort to end this horrific conflict through an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire." The countries emphasized that "restrictions on the flow of aid must be lifted immediately," calling for "an end to the war, compliance with international law, and an end to the targeting of civilians."
With American and European support, the Zionist enemy has been committing a crime of genocide and imposing a total blockade on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. These crimes have resulted in more than 199,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries, most of them children and women, in addition to more than 11,000 missing persons, and hundreds of thousands displaced.
