The British maritime magazine Lloyd’s List, specializing in shipping affairs, has warned of escalating concerns within the global shipping market following the Yemeni armed forces’ announcement to widen their targeting scope to include any vessel belonging to companies associated with the Israeli occupation, even if not headed toward the occupied ports. This move is part of Yemen’s support and backing of the oppressed Palestinian people.
In a report published Tuesday, the magazine described this threat as a “new phase of terror” for maritime navigation in the Red Sea.
Martin Kelly, Head of Consulting at EOS Risk, explained that Yemeni forces are already in the process of implementing this approach, citing a previous attack on the oil tanker Magic Seas as evidence of the seriousness of these warnings.
Meanwhile, Dirk Siebels, analyst at Risk Intelligence, urged ship operators to take Yemen’s warnings extremely seriously, cautioning that ignoring them could lead to “significant losses.” He recalled the fate of the vessels Magic Seas and Infinity Sea, both targeted and sunk after disregarding the blockade imposed on the Israeli entity due to the atrocities and massacres in Gaza and refusing to heed Yemeni warnings.
