The Ministry of Youth and Sports in Sanaa held a press conference on Monday to mark the 11th anniversary of the National Day of Resilience.

During the conference, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Nabih Nasser reviewed the scale of the direct and indirect damages suffered by the youth and sports sector as a result of the U.S.-Saudi-UAE aggression since March 2015.

He provided details on the human and material losses endured by this vital sector, stressing that the targeting was not random but rather systematic and deliberate, aimed at undermining the aspirations of Yemeni youth.

Nasser explained that 464 individuals were killed, including staff members of the ministry and its affiliated bodies, as well as members of youth and sports federations and organizations.

He added that the destruction also affected 136 youth and sports facilities across 17 governorates.

He noted that the aggression did not limit its attacks to stadiums and sports fields, but also targeted administrative headquarters of clubs, youth and sports organizations, youth hostels, and training centers.

The deputy minister stated that the estimated financial losses to youth and sports facilities—both totally and partially destroyed—exceed $1 billion, reflecting what he described as the deep hostility shown by the U.S.-Saudi-UAE aggression toward the Yemeni people.

Nasser praised the steadfastness and resilience of those working in the youth and sports sector, noting that despite the war, they achieved multiple successes in domestic and international competitions over the past eleven years.

He emphasized that these attacks only strengthened the determination of Yemeni youth and athletes, who continued to raise the Yemeni flag at international events.

For his part, the Ministry’s Director General of Projects, engineer Ahmed Al-Tuwaiti, presented a technical and statistical briefing that included a map illustrating the distribution of destruction across the governorates, along with detailed data on damages, losses, and the number of targeted facilities in each governorate.

The conference also displayed photos showing the facilities before and after the airstrikes.

The press conference was attended by several ministry officials, including Youth Sector Undersecretary Abdullah Al-Razhi, Sports Sector Undersecretary Ali Hadban, engineer Ramzi Al-Aghbari, Head of the Technical Office Mohammed Al-Kabari, as well as assistant undersecretaries Dr. Kamal Al-Sharif, Dr. Jaber Al-Bawab, Yahya Al-Makhdi, and a number of directors and ministry staff.
