To grasp the magnitude of the transformation brought about by the Noble Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his Household, we must first venture into the dark labyrinth of the world that preceded his mission. 

Imagine societies sinking into an age of profound ignorance—not only across the Arabian Peninsula, but throughout the farthest reaches of the earth. 

It was a world in which misguidance had grown so pervasive that it became an article of faith, oppression had become so entrenched that it was elevated into law, and the domination of the forces of arrogance and tyranny had become so absolute that it cast humanity into utter darkness.

During that period, human beings were stripped of their humanity and reduced to lost creatures, unable to see any higher purpose beyond “eating to live, and living to eat.” In that desolate wilderness, the arrogant turned superstition into religion, corruption into custom, and ignorance into a heritage revered by successive generations. 

The descent reached its nadir when the devils made the killing of daughters and children seem acceptable to their followers: “And thus their partners made the killing of their children seem pleasing to many of the polytheists…” 

The father himself became an executioner of his own flesh and blood, driven either by fear of poverty or by the desire to escape an imagined disgrace.

As for the previous messages of God, their traces had been erased at the hands of the Jews and Christians. The Jews distorted the Torah, while the Christians lost the Gospel, leaving behind little of their guidance but rituals emptied of spirit and clerics who turned the word of God into yellowed pages, suspending its laws and concealing its truths. 

Thus, they went astray and led others astray: “They led many astray, and themselves strayed far from the right path.”

Against this bleak backdrop, humanity had reached its lowest depths, stumbling helplessly through the wilderness of misguidance, yearning for a light to guide it and a mercy to pull it back from the abyss.

When the Elephants Moved to Defy the Will of Allah

Amid that utter darkness, the forces of tyranny were watching for signs of the light that was about to emerge, sensing the danger posed by the arrival of Allah’s Prophet from Mecca, the Sacred House of Allah.

Just as Pharaoh had previously sought to thwart the mission of Allah’s Prophet Moses, peace be upon him, Abraha and his mighty army set out with their massive elephants to destroy the Kaaba and extinguish the divine mission at its very inception, before it could see the light of day.

They chose the elephant—a terrifying and unfamiliar creature—as a weapon of psychological warfare to intimidate the Arabs, who had been torn apart by division and weakened by fragmentation. And indeed, when the Arabs confronted that army, they abandoned any attempt at resistance. A crushing psychological defeat took hold of them, and they fled, repeating in helpless despair: “The House has a Lord who will protect it!”

It was at that decisive moment that the divine will manifested itself, proclaiming that victory does not belong to elephants or sheer force and numbers, but to divine truth. Allah intervened to protect His Sacred House and destroyed the Companions of the Elephant with stones of baked clay, reducing them to “eaten straw” and thwarting their plot.

That episode was akin to a prelude to the epic struggle of truth that was yet to come—a timeless message that “Allah is predominant over His affair, but most people do not know.” Allah had willed to bring humanity out of darkness through the birth of light, and that light was Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his Household.

The Only Project Capable of Transforming Reality

The guiding Prophet came with the Qur’an, the Book that illuminated minds, purified souls, and transformed the reality of an entire nation.

A nation that had once trembled at the sight of a single elephant was, after embracing Islam, transformed into a formidable force carrying a divine message—one that no longer feared the armies of empires, even when they marched in vast numbers of elephants to intimidate it. 

But far from it: the Muslims drew strength from the power of truth, were granted victory through the victory of Allah, and carried the greatest project humanity had ever known.

Why was Islam the only project capable of bringing about genuine change? Because it is not a project conceived in the palaces of the arrogant; it emanates from Allah to serve as a mercy for the oppressed. 

It is a comprehensive project that begins within the human heart—reforming it, purifying the soul, and cultivating awareness—and only then can it set the entirety of life right. 

It is not a project of one race over another, nor of one color over another; rather, it is the common word around which all humanity can unite: “O mankind,” founded upon the unshakable pillar of justice: “Say: My Lord has commanded justice.”

It is Allah’s conclusive proof against His creation ever since Adam descended to the earth, and the straight path without which humanity has no salvation today, just as it had no salvation without it yesterday. For the latter part of this nation can be set right only through that which set right its first generation.

A Message in an Age of Subservience and Betrayal

Today, as we live under the weight of a bitter reality, our memory takes us back to that first chapter of the struggle against falsehood. The global forces of arrogance, led by America and “Israel,” continue to spread corruption across the earth, foment wars, plunder resources, and deepen the suffering of humanity. 

Yet more dangerous still is the emergence of their instruments within the Muslim world: regimes of subservience and hypocrisy that cloak themselves in Islam while working to destroy the Ummah from within.

Such is the case with the Saudi regime, which has made itself the spearhead for carrying out conspiracies, representing a dark continuation of the path of distortion and deviation that the prophets confronted.

In the face of the multifaceted Jewish penetration of the Ummah, the Qur’anic warning is unequivocal in cautioning the Muslim community against falling into subservience to the Jews and Christians: “And whoever among you takes them as allies is indeed one of them. Surely Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.”

The only path to salvation is the same path as yesterday: holding fast to Allah and maintaining a firm bond with His final message. Within it lie the elements of inherent strength, and by adhering to it comes the victory of Allah: “It is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth, that He may make it prevail over all religions, even though the polytheists may be averse.”

Yemen: A Living Testament to the Prophetic Saying, “Faith Is Yemeni”

Because every nation has its pure and authentic sources, our Yemeni people have had the great honor of being connected to the faith since the dawn of Islam, beginning with the Ansar, who received the Prophet’s timeless distinction: “Faith is Yemeni, and wisdom is Yemeni.” 

The very same faith embodied by the early generations is manifested today in new forms of patience and steadfastness in the face of American-Saudi aggression.

Through their blood, wounds, and hunger, the Yemenis have presented a remarkable living image of the greatness of Islamic values. 

The horns of disinformation have failed to deceive them, nor have the machinery of killing and destruction managed to break their resolve, because they have understood that true strength lies not in weapons and military hardware, but in the strength of principles and in placing one’s trust in Allah. 

Today, through both word and deed, they reaffirm that they remain committed to the covenant they made at the dawn of Islam: the covenant of faith, support, and selflessness, striving relentlessly toward the spiritual elevation that Allah has promised His sincere servants.
