Hamas has urged the international community to take immediate action as famine and malnutrition continue to ravage Gaza’s children amid Israel’s “suffocating siege and systematic starvation policies.”

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Palestinian resistance movement condemned the Israeli regime for continuing to target “innocent children and civilians through starvation, bombardment, and massacres.”

“These crimes,” Hamas said, “constitute horrific violations of international law and fundamental humanitarian norms and values.”

Earlier on Saturday, Gaza’s Government Media Office reported that at least 66 children have died from acute malnutrition in Gaza since October 2023.

Hamas said the children lost their lives “due to complications from malnutrition and starvation, resulting from the suffocating siege and systematic starvation policies” imposed by the regime of “war criminal” Benjamin Netanyahu on Gaza.

It said the Tel Aviv regime commits these crimes and violations, knowing that “it is shielded from accountability by the protection of the US administration, which is complicit in these crimes.”

Hamas once again called on the world to “immediately intervene to end this genocide, break the siege, and ensure the entry of all life-saving aid and essential supplies.”

“The international community and Arab and Islamic nations must exert all efforts to stop this escalating humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, which the criminal Netanyahu's government continues to intensify.”

Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister, stands accused of war crimes by the international community for targeting civilians, using starvation as a weapon, and destroying critical infrastructure in Gaza.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for him and his former minister of military affairs, Yoav Gallant, over war crimes. The regime’s leaders also face genocide charges at the International Court of Justice.
