The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) announced on Sunday that its clinic in the Gaza Strip has witnessed an increase in the number of malnutrition cases since the start of the Israeli blockade last March.
The agency added: Our teams continue their work in Gaza to assist the most vulnerable groups despite the severe shortage of essential medical supplies.
UNRWA previously announced that more than 2,700 Palestinian children under the age of five were diagnosed with severe malnutrition in late May in the Gaza Strip due to the systematic starvation practiced by Israel.
UNRWA said on its X platform that the crisis across the Gaza Strip "has reached unprecedented levels of despair, with people continuing to suffer from hunger."
Gaza Strip has been experiencing a catastrophic humanitarian crisis since Israel closed the crossings on March 2, preventing the entry of food, medicine, aid, and fuel, while its military escalates its genocidal campaign against the Palestinians in the Strip.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel—with American support—has been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and displacement, ignoring international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.
