The Economist published a report revealing the growing strength of Yemen's naval forces and its continued targeting of ships belonging to or dealing with the entity in the Red Sea. The newspaper added: "Despite Washington's recent claims of defeating the Houthis, Yemen continues its naval operations and, in less than a week, carried out two targeted operations targeting and sinking two commercial vessels, the Magic Seas and the Eternity Sea, on July 6 and 7."
The magazine noted that the attacks came two full months after Trump's announcement, in which he claimed that Ansarollah had "surrendered" and pledged not to attack ships again. However, the facts on the ground confirmed that the battle has not stopped.
The magazine described the recent attacks as a clear message to the world that it is Yemen, not Washington, that dominates Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The Economist noted that the global response was cold, almost indifferent, reflecting the depth of the Western predicament facing Yemen and the difficulty of breaking its capabilities through military force. It also explained that the US has reduced its forces in the region and withdrawn some destroyers that were protecting commercial vessels, giving Ansarollah movement the opportunity to once again demonstrate Yemen's deterrent power.
