Yemen’s Shura Council has strongly condemned the recent Israeli attack on Hodeidah Port and its civilian infrastructure, calling it a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law, as well as an infringement on Yemen’s sovereignty.
In a statement issued Monday, the Council described the assault as “a desperate and bankrupt move” by the Israeli entity, which it said has failed to break the will of the Yemeni people or deter their principled and religious stance in solidarity with the Palestinian people facing genocide and starvation in Gaza.
The Council emphasized that continued Israeli aggression will only strengthen Yemen’s resolve to support the Palestinian cause. It condemned the daily killings in Gaza and criticized the disgraceful silence of the international, Arab, and Islamic communities—a silence that has emboldened Israel to escalate its crimes.
The Council also commended the Yemeni Armed Forces for their precise military operations targeting Israeli positions, describing them as a legitimate and proportionate response that highlights Yemen’s military readiness and its commitment to defending national sovereignty and public assets.
The Council renewed its call to the Association of Senates, Shura, and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World—as well as to the international community and advocates of justice worldwide—to denounce the Israeli assault on Yemen and to take urgent action to end Israel’s starvation tactics and crimes against civilians in Gaza.
