The number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees inside Israeli occupation’s prisons has reached over 10,800 since early 2025.

In a joint statement, the Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club confirmed that this figure reflects the ongoing escalation in the systematic arrest policy the occupation authorities have been implementing against Palestinians across the occupied territories.

The statement clarified that a list of detainees included 48 Palestinian women, over 440 children, and approximately 3,600 administrative detainees, who have been held by the Israeli occupation authorities without charge or trial, in flagrant violation of the principles of justice and international law.

Additionally, at least 2,454 detainees from the Gaza Strip are being classified by the Israeli Prison Service as “unlawful combatants,” a classification used to circumvent the application of the Geneva Conventions to prisoners of war.

The statement affirmed that this figure did not include detainees held in Israeli military camps and sites, but rather includes those held by the Israeli Prison Service in its official facilities.

It described the continued detention of thousands of Palestinians, including women and children, as an occupation policy aimed at breaking the will of the Palestinian people and imposing a reality of oppression and intimidation.

Finally, the statement called on international institutions, primarily the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Human Rights Council, to assume their legal and humanitarian responsibilities in monitoring the conditions of prisoners and pressuring the occupation to halt violations, especially in light of the escalating use of administrative detention as an extrajudicial, retaliatory measure.
