The Hodeidah branch of the Executive Center for Mine Action destroyed 140 anti-vehicle mines left over from the Saudi-American aggression.
The mines were discovered in Field No. (3) in the Al-Ahwad area of Al-Hali District, as part of ongoing clearance operations to secure residential areas and transportation routes.
The branch director, Colonel Yahya Sabr, explained that the destruction operation was carried out by the second platoon after the emergency and demolition teams had prepared the mines for disposal.
He noted that the area is densely populated and contains several roads leading to large villages, posing a serious threat to civilians and their property.
He added that the operation comes within the framework of a campaign to facilitate the return of citizens to areas that have been cleared of mines and war remnants, stressing that the center continues its field operations despite the obstacles and difficulties facing implementation on the ground.
Sabr emphasized that these humanitarian efforts are being carried out amid significant challenges, foremost among them limited financial support and logistical constraints, particularly given the widespread contamination with mines and remnants of war.
He affirmed that work is continuing within available capabilities to save lives, reduce casualties, and mitigate the impact of contamination on affected communities.
He further noted that sustaining and expanding these efforts requires strengthening humanitarian partnerships and increasing financial and logistical support in line with the scale of existing contamination, contributing to accelerating land clearance and building a safer future for communities affected by mines and war remnants.
The destruction operation was attended by the center’s Emergency Team official, Mohammed Dahman, along with a number of specialists.
