Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem stated that the movement had informed all parties since the beginning of the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip that it was not seeking to be part of the “day after” arrangements, before later developing its position by agreeing to the formation of a national committee to administer the territory.
In press statements on Wednesday, Qassem said that Hamas had called for the rapid deployment of the national committee into the Gaza Strip.
He urged pressure to be exerted on the Zionist enemy to allow members of the national committee to enter Gaza and begin carrying out their duties.
Qassem explained that the movement had taken all necessary field, political, and legal steps to transfer governing authority to the national committee, including security and administrative responsibilities inside the Strip.
The Hamas spokesperson also criticized remarks made by Gaza Peace Council Executive Director Nikolay Mladenov regarding alleged daily violations of the ceasefire, saying that speaking in general terms contradicted the realities and facts on the ground.
He confirmed that the Zionist enemy is the party continuing to violate the ceasefire agreement, noting that more than 850 Palestinians had been killed as a result of these violations.
Qassem added that the Zionist enemy continues to restrict the entry of humanitarian aid and has moved the “yellow line” further west inside the Gaza Strip.
He further stated that Mladenov should have clearly pointed to the Zionist violations, while Hamas and the Palestinian factions had fully adhered to the terms of the agreement in an effort to implement American President Donald Trump’s plan for establishing peace in the Gaza Strip.
The Hamas spokesperson called for increased pressure on the Zionist enemy to implement the agreements reached in the first phase of the understandings before moving on to discussions regarding the second phase.
He explained that the second phase includes the deployment of the national committee and international forces, an Israeli withdrawal, and discussions concerning Palestinian weapons.
Qassem stressed that Hamas had dealt positively with proposals presented by mediators regarding arrangements connected to the second-phase tracks.
Earlier on Wednesday, Gaza Peace Council Executive Director Nikolay Mladenov stated that the council was focused on securing a future for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, pointing to the continuation of daily ceasefire violations and the ongoing killing of civilians.
Mladenov also confirmed in press remarks that he had held talks with the head of the goverment of the Zionist entity as part of consultations conducted by the council aimed at advancing the humanitarian and political situation in Gaza.
