Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan accused "Israel" of actively working to undermine and derail ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran, as it views any agreement reached in the current framework as contrary to its interests and is therefore doing everything in its power to bring the diplomatic process to failure.

Fidan called on the international community to pressure "Israel" to ensure it does not obstruct peace efforts, stressing the need to protect the diplomatic track from attempts at sabotage or escalation.

Fidan's remarks came shortly after Israeli warplanes bombed a residential building in the Tahwitat al-Ghadir area of Beirut's Southern Suburb, killing two citizens and injuring 11 others.

"Israel" had informed the Trump administration of its intention to carry out the attack before it was launched, sources told Axios, with Israeli broadcaster Kan also confirming the advance notification.

Turkey offers mediation

Ankara has also signaled willingness to play a broader diplomatic role in efforts to end the US war on Iran.

A Turkish government source told RIA Novosti on Thursday that Turkey is prepared to offer mediation between Washington and Tehran if requested by both parties, stating that Ankara stands ready to make any contribution to the negotiation process that the parties deem necessary.

The source added that Turkey is closely monitoring developments in the dialogue between Washington and Tehran and firmly supports resolving differences through diplomatic means.

Ankara has been urging both sides to focus on talks and avoid any new escalation, warning that another round of tensions could adversely affect regional security, energy supplies, and international trade.
