The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) on Thursday published satellite images of US military bases across the West Asian region that were targeted during Operation True Promise 4, Iran's retaliatory operation launched during the US-Israeli war on Iran.
Operation True Promise 4 began on February 28, 2026, after the United States and "Israel" launched a second imposed war on Iran while negotiations between Tehran and Washington were still underway. Iranian media said the operation was an immediate and decisive response aimed at restoring deterrence and demonstrating Tehran's ability to respond rapidly to military escalation.
The operation unfolded in coordinated waves of ballistic missile and drone strikes against US military facilities across the region and Israeli sites and bases in the occupied Palestinian territories. The targets were "centers of aggression" involved in military operations against Iran.
The operation also extended beyond military installations, disrupting key energy and logistical infrastructure across the Persian Gulf. Refineries and liquefied natural gas facilities in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar were among the sites affected, with several installations temporarily suspending operations and major export terminals experiencing repeated disruptions.
Among the most notable attacks was a March 1 strike on a US tactical operations center in Kuwait, where a drone reportedly evaded air defenses and directly hit the facility, destroying the structure and causing casualties. In Bahrain, missile and drone strikes damaged buildings in and around facilities linked to the US Navy's Fifth Fleet, demonstrating the operation's reach into heavily fortified military hubs.
The operation culminated in one of its most significant strikes on March 27, when Iranian missiles and drones struck Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. The attack reportedly involved six ballistic missiles and 29 drones, including Shahed-type systems, and destroyed a Boeing E-3 Sentry surveillance aircraft on the ground. Several KC-135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft were also damaged or destroyed, while between 12 and 15 US service members were wounded.
The release of the satellite imagery offers a detailed look at the scope of Operation True Promise 4 and highlights the range of targets struck during the weeks-long operation, which Tehran says was intended to impose military and economic costs on its adversaries while reestablishing deterrence following the outbreak of war.
