FM praises the European Parliament’s decision for a political solution in Yemen

Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Sunday praised the European Parliament’s decision, which includes supporting a peaceful political solution in Yemen.

In a statement, the foreign minister considered the European Parliament’s call for European Union member states to stop arms exports to Saudi-led coalition countries an important step towards ending the military aggression on Yemen, lifting the comprehensive siege, and reaching a political settlement.

Sharaf reaffirmed Sana’a government’s earnest orientation towards a just and honorable peace that leads to a sustainable political settlement.

He stressed that to achieve this it is necessary to expedite the declaration and confirmation of an immediate ceasefire that includes the aggression coalition in the first place via a binding decision issued by the Security Council with the guarantee of the five permanent members.
