Yemen’s Army Unveils “Hatem 2” Hypersonic Missile
The Yemeni Armed Forces officially announced on Wednesday that they have developed hypersonic missile technology. This revelation marks a significant advancement in the country’s military capabilities.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the official spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, disclosed this development on the platform “X.” He stated, “The Yemeni Armed Forces reveal for the first time the identity of the missile that targeted the Israeli vessel MSC SARAH V in the Arabian Sea. This is a domestically manufactured hypersonic missile with advanced technology, precise targeting, and long-range capabilities.”
Brigadier General Saree added, “Footage of the launch, along with additional details, will be distributed through military media later, Inshallah.”
Specifications of the Missile:
– Speed: Hypersonic.
– Fuel Type: Solid.
– Control System: Smart.
– Features: Advanced technology, high precision.
– Capabilities: Maneuverability, multiple generations with various ranges.
– Manufacture: Produced by the Yemeni Military Manufacturing Authority.
The announcement comes a day after the Yemeni Armed Forces successfully targeted the Israeli vessel MSC SARAH V in the Arabian Sea with precise and direct impact. The operation was carried out using a newly developed ballistic missile that was recently put into service following successful experimental operations. The missile can accurately hit targets at long distances.
In a commentary on the missile’s operation, Reuters reported yesterday, citing a memo from the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden Joint Maritime Information Center, that the attack on the MSC SARAH V was likely carried out with a missile that reached a distance of 450 kilometers (approximately 246 nautical miles) southeast of Nashtoon, due to its association with Israel. The Associated Press also noted that a commercial vessel was attacked from Yemen in an area further than any previously recorded attacks near the outer passage of the Gulf of Aden.

Earlier this month, on June 3, the Yemeni Armed Forces unveiled a domestically manufactured ballistic missile named “Palestine,” although its specifications were not disclosed. Footage was released showing the missile being launched at a military target in Eilat, Israel.
Additionally, on June 21, military media released footage of the locally made Tufan1 drone boat for the first time. The Tufan1 targeted the vessel TUTOR in the Red Sea on June 12, resulting in its sinking. The Tufan1 is an attack drone boat equipped with a 150 kg warhead. It is noted for its small size, high speed, ability to evade enemy detection systems, and a speed of 35 nautical miles per hour. It is designed to target both stationary and moving maritime targets and serves as a part of the coastal and island defense arsenal of Yemen.
