International conference in Sanaa confirms rejection of displacement of Palestinians
The Yemeni capital, Sana’a, hosted the international conference titled “Palestine: From the Nakba to the Flood – The Importance of Palestinian Resistance in Preventing Displacement” on Sunday. The event saw participation from over 50 activists, researchers, and academics from various countries, reaffirming opposition to displacement schemes and expressing support for Palestinian resistance.
Al-Shami reflected on the ideological foundations of the late leader Sayyed Hussein Badreddin Al-Houthi, highlighting how the Quranic Movement—which began on Quds Day in 2001—has remained steadfast in advocating for Palestine. He noted that Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi has continued this commitment both in words and actions.
Al-Shami also outlined key milestones in the Arab-Israeli conflict, tracing events from the 1897 Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland, through the 1948 establishment of Israel, and up to the present-day Al-Aqsa Flood operation.
Yemen’s Armed Forces have also played an active role, continuing missile and drone strikes on Israeli military targets. Al-Shami stated that these measures would persist until Israel ceases its aggression against Gaza.
He further detailed ongoing Yemeni military operations, including the targeting of American and British naval vessels in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb, which he described as acts of self-defense against foreign intervention.
Abu Shamala also criticized the Israeli blockade on Gaza, accusing the U.S. of providing direct support for Israel’s actions. He called on Arab leaders—set to convene at an upcoming summit—to reject any displacement plans for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
“The only future for Gaza is a Palestinian one. We reject any foreign presence or international administration over the Strip,” Abu Shamala affirmed.
Many speakers emphasized that the Al-Aqsa Flood operation marked a significant moment in Palestinian history, strengthening the legitimacy of resistance against Israeli aggression.
The conference concluded with strong calls for global action against Israel’s continued violations of international law. Attendees urged the international community to prevent forced displacement and uphold Palestinian rights to independence and sovereignty.
The event also showcased Yemen’s growing role in supporting Palestine, with reports detailing over 1,150 missile and drone strikes against Israeli-linked targets and over 14,000 demonstrations in solidarity with Gaza.
The conference reaffirmed the collective commitment of participants to defending Palestinian rights, supporting resistance efforts, and rejecting forced displacement policies.
