The local authority in Hadramout province has strongly condemned the severe deterioration of basic services and the systematic repression targeting citizens, journalists, and peaceful protesters in the city of Mukalla and other occupied coastal areas of the governorate.

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), Hadramout Governor Luqman Baras reaffirmed the leadership’s full support for the ongoing popular uprising taking place across the streets and neighborhoods of Mukalla against the Saudi-Emirati occupation forces and their mercenaries.

Governor Baras stated that the local authority is closely monitoring the protests, which began on Sunday morning, as thousands of citizens took to the streets to denounce the collapse of public services, total power outages, and the worsening economic and humanitarian conditions resulting from the Saudi-Emirati occupation and its local proxies.

He held the aggression and occupation forces fully responsible for the catastrophic breakdown of services, the spread of security chaos, and the arrest of several journalists and activists in what he described as a desperate attempt to silence dissenting voices.

The governor called on the people of the southern and eastern governorates to stand united in the face of occupation, to support the people of Hadramout in their just demands for improved services and better economic and living conditions.

Governor Baras reiterated the urgent need to end the occupation, withdraw all foreign forces and their affiliated militias, and halt the widespread corruption and exploitation of the governorate’s resources, which are undermining its security and stability.
