The Foreign Minister, Jamal Amer, called on the United Nations to give the mines issue that targets civilians, most of them were children and women, great importance.
This came during his meeting on Tuesday with the UN Resident Coordinator in Yemen, Julien Harneis.
He expressed regret that donors were ignoring the seriousness of this humanitarian problem, which was claiming lives and causing permanent disabilities.
Mr. Amer emphasized the utmost importance of completing the water project in Al-Hawban area of Taiz province, adding the need to provide sufficient funding to implement the vital, humanitarian project, which will serve hundreds of thousands of citizens in the province.
He also highlighted the importance of completing the repair of Al-Dhalea Road, which was recently reopened through local initiatives, given its role in facilitating citizen movement and alleviating humanitarian suffering.
For his part, the UN official stressed the UN’s commitment to humanitarian issues in Yemen and its ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering of citizens.
