The implantation of a hostile Zionist entity in the heart of the Arab and Islamic world was expected to represent a historic moment of awakening for the region. Such an event should have served as a catalyst for deep reflection and comprehensive evaluation of the reality facing the Arab and Islamic nations. The establishment of a foreign and antagonistic entity that seized part of Arab and Islamic lands, violated sacred sites, and targeted an entire people should never have been seen as a passing incident or a marginal political development. Rather, it represented a profound wound in the body of the nation—a deeply embedded Palestinian wound that should have shaken consciences and awakened hearts from a long period of slumber.
This major tragedy was expected to stir the awareness and emotions of the nation and to move societies beyond distraction with secondary issues. Over decades, Palestine has witnessed repeated acts of what many describe as Zionist aggression, including killings, forced displacement, confiscation of cities, villages and lands, violations of sacred sites, imprisonment of thousands of Palestinian youth, and violations of the dignity and honor of Palestinian women. Such events, according to the narrative presented, were more than sufficient to mobilize the nation at the level required. Yet the Arab reality—particularly at the level of governments and political systems—has largely been disappointing.
Despite the magnitude of the crisis and the exceptional challenge it represents, the Palestinian cause has not received the serious attention or responsible engagement expected. This shortcoming has been observed not only among the general public but also among intellectual elites and political circles. As a result, the Arab and Islamic approach to the Palestinian issue has remained below the level required and has not matched either the significance of the cause or the scale of the threat.
Even today, the Palestinian issue re-emerges in the headlines periodically and is discussed in certain political, academic, and religious circles. However, it has yet to become a permanent axis of awareness and sustained action. It has not transformed into a continuous driving force for effective and ongoing mobilization. This deficiency extends beyond ordinary citizens and reaches leadership circles, influencers, and decision-makers, reflecting what critics describe as complacency or negligence in confronting a threat that increasingly challenges the identity and existence of the entire nation.
At the same time, this crisis should have prompted the nation to undertake a fundamental review: how were adversaries able to infiltrate the region? How did the Zionist entity manage to establish itself as a powerful force in the region despite starting from what appeared to be nothing? How did it exploit the weakness and fragmentation of the Arab world to the point that many have been defeated by it while others remain silent?
Key Factors Behind the Enemy's Control of Palestine
According to the analysis presented, two principal and interconnected factors contributed to the emergence and consolidation of the Zionist enemy's control over Palestine and al-Quds.
The first factor was the strong determination and organized efforts of Zionist movements, supported initially by British and broader Western sponsorship and later by American protection.
The second factor was significant negligence and failure on the Arab side. This element, closely linked to the first, played a major role in enabling the developments that unfolded. While there were limited movements within Palestinian society and parts of the Arab world, these efforts did not match the scale of the challenge or the magnitude of the threat.
The level of neglect, according to this perspective, was substantial both within Palestinian society and across the broader Arab world. Two main reasons are highlighted. The first was a lack of awareness regarding the nature and scope of the threat and the broader conspiracy surrounding it, as well as insufficient understanding of local, regional, and international dynamics. The second was a severe lack of responsibility among many members of the nation, who did not perceive themselves as directly concerned or responsible for the developments taking place. This absence of awareness also contributed to feelings of despair, loss of vision, and other factors that weakened collective action.
Lessons From the Zionist Movement’s Rise
The intense focus and organization displayed by Zionist movements are presented as a source of lessons for the Arab and Islamic world. These movements began point zero, especially given that Jewish communities were dispersed across the globe.
Despite this dispersion, they mobilized seriously and systematically. Significant attention was given to financial mobilization, with donations collected from many Zionist Jewish families around the world to fund what had already been formulated as a practical project. Palestine was selected as the location for establishing a "homeland" to which Jewish populations would migrate, build a political entity, and eventually control the territory.
Then they would use it as a springboard to control the entire region, or to establish what they call "Greater Israel", thereby imposing global influence and dominance upon themselves. Yet, Allah Almighty, in His infinite wisdom, decreed that the world would be divided by their evil and corruption, their unity shattered, and their people scattered throughout the world. Allah Almighty said in the Holy Quran: {And We dispersed them throughout the earth as separate nations} (Al-A'raf 168). Allah tore them apart, severed their ties, dispersed them across the earth, and scattered them.
The Role of Arab Regimes in the Marginalization of the Palestinian Cause
In one of his lectures delivered on the occasion of the annual International Quds Day, The Leader of the Revolution, al-Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badruddin al-Houthi addressed the dangers of those normalizing connections with the Israeli enemy and the United States in the Arab and Islamic world. His remarks focused on the consequences of these alignments for the Palestinian cause and the collective consciousness of Muslim societies, while emphasizing the responsibility of populations to confront such trends.
He stated that both American and Israeli actors have relied on certain regimes within the region, along with their political allies, to counter any movement aimed at awakening or mobilizing the nation. Revealing that some Arab governments, as well as elements within societies, have acted to suppress any independent, progressive, and free movement that supports the Palestinian cause, opposes Israel, and resists American hegemony—and this movement is met with extreme brutality and force.
He further stated that these actors have pursued three primary tracks in their efforts.
The first track involves obstructing any awareness-raising or reform movement within the nation that seeks to mobilize opposition to the Israeli entity. According to the lecture, these actors prefer silence and inaction and have worked to marginalize the Palestinian cause and the Zionist threat—particularly in educational curricula and media coverage. They have done a great deal in this process of obstruction, effectively erasing the Palestinian cause, the Israeli threat, and the danger to the holy sites and to Al-Aqsa Mosque. As a result, discussions of Palestine and threats to Islamic holy sites have gradually disappeared from school and university programs, while media engagement with the issue has become routine and superficial.
Then, they proceeded along another track: normalization. They present Israel as a friend, asserting that the only option with it is peace, portraying it as a welcomed and accepted entity within the Ummah, a partner in the Ummah’s issues, affairs, and matters. Today, it participates with some Arab regimes even in wars. It has joined the aggression against Yemen, directly or indirectly, in many ways—including in airstrikes, arms sales, deploying its experts to assist the Saudi system, and in many other matters. It conspires with Arab regimes against the forces of resistance. A friend, a partner, accepted. The peace initiative is presented on this basis: Israel as a friend to be accepted, a natural entity like any other state in the region, with only the agreement to halt problems.
Normalization with the Israeli Enemy Aims to Liquidate the Palestinian Cause and Besiege Resistance Movements
Al-Sayyid stated that normalization with the Zionist enemy has become a dangerous political trend pursued by certain Arab regimes. In his view, these policies divert the attention of the Arab and Islamic world toward other conflicts and crises, thereby pushing the Palestinian issue and the status of al-Qud's holy sites out of public consciousness.
Where he pointed that as normalization advances, the Israeli enemy simultaneously intensifies its actions targeting the al-Aqsa Mosque. Revealing that political alignment with the Israeli enemy and the United States contributes to efforts aimed at resolving the Palestinian issue in ways that favor the Zionist enemy.
First: besieging and criminalizing the Palestinian militant and resistance movements, and Hezbollah, with all that Hezbollah represents as a great, advanced, victorious Islamic and Arab front, successful with major achievements confronting Israel and the Israeli threat. Likewise, besieging and criminalizing the resistance movements in Palestine, labeling them as terrorists, and imposing disadvantageous deals on the Palestinian people.
Citing the intense hostility faced by the Yemeni people due to their clear stance against Israel and opposition to American hegemony, he noted the paradoxical fact that the disgraceful position of these regimes has reached the point of supporting the Zionist enemy and standing with it on a single front against the Palestinian people. This criminal role became evident after the al-Aqsa Flood Operation, when these regimes, without shame, stood alongside the enemy of the Ummah in the crime of destroying Gaza and assassinating Hezbollah leaders. They played a prominent role in financing and pushing for the crime of targeting al-Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, (may Allah be pleased with him). Evidence of this was noted by the martyr of the Ummah, al-Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, prior to his assassination, in a television interview with Al Mayadeen, indicating that Mohammed bin Salman had offered incentives to American officials in connection with attempts to eliminate him. Their media outlets also sought to demonize leaders of the Islamic resistance in Palestine, labeling them as terrorists and blaming them for what Gaza suffered, following the same Zionist logic. They even went so far as to attempt to intercept missiles and drones launched by the Yemeni armed forces toward occupied territories during the operation (The Promised Victory and Holy Jihad), supporting the people of Gaza. Today, we also witness their open alignment with the American-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran because of its support for the Palestinian people and cause.
Second, Suppressing every free voice within the Arab and Islamic Ummah that opposes the Israeli enemy and rejects American hegemony.
Third, Eliminating awareness campaigns— erasing all forms of awareness and mobilization of the Ummah against Israel and the Israeli-American danger
Today, official educational curricula across the Arab world have excluded awareness content, even though they were previously insufficient. Now, there is a deliberate effort to completely remove all content raising awareness and mobilizing against the Israeli and colonial danger, and the American danger, so that no reference remains in any school curriculum here or there regarding Israel (including awareness about Israel, the Israeli threat, the Palestinian cause, the holy sites, or mobilization and advocacy).
Confronting Normalization with the Israeli Enemy Is a Religious Duty
The Leader emphasizes that our responsibility today is to revive a state of enmity toward the Zionist entity, considering this an Islamic duty—a religious responsibility. Especially in facing the efforts of others to impose loyalty to the Israeli entity, to erase hostility toward it, and to alter the attitude toward the Israeli entity, we must revive the state of enmity toward the Israeli entity. This is not merely a political choice, nor is it just a reactive stance. No—it is an Islamic duty, a religious obligation. Enmity toward the Israeli entity, is a religious obligation, part of your religious commitments. At the same time, it is meant to be a human, ethical, national, and patriotic responsibility, among others… This dimension is important; this consideration is significant; this aspect is fundamental for clear reasons: the Palestinian people are part of the Islamic Ummah, and it is our duty—religiously—to support this people in confronting the Israeli enemy.
The land of Palestine is part of the land of the Ummah, and it is our Islamic duty to strive for the liberation of all this land so that not a single grain of sand remains under occupation. Likewise, the holy sites, foremost among them al-Aqsa Mosque—the place of the Prophet’s Night Journey (peace be upon him), the first Qibla, and the third holiest sanctuary—require our religious responsibility for their liberation and protection.
We must also understand well that in the Arab and Islamic world, Palestine is the advanced stronghold, the first trench. The more the Ummah cares for it and supports it, the more the Ummah stands behind it, the more the dangers in other regions are reduced.
