The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei, confirmed that no plan has yet been set for the next round of negotiations between Iran and America in Pakistan, and that no decision has been made on the matter. He emphasized that any decision regarding continuing will be taken with full consideration of the interests and benefits of the Iranian people.
Baghaei added that the presence of the American delegation in Islamabad is “their own matter,” stating that Tehran does not see any seriousness in it. He stressed that there is no trust between Iran and America, and that any potential agreement must be structured in a way that guarantees its implementation according to mechanisms set by Iran.
He further stated that the American naval blockade and the attack on an Iranian commercial vessel constitute a clear violation of the ceasefire, noting that Washington has shown evident failure by breaching the agreement following its announcement in Lebanon and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. He said that the American declaration of continuing the blockade demonstrates a lack of seriousness in negotiations.
In the same context, Baghaei asserted that tensions in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz are solely the result of American and Israeli military actions. He claimed that the region had enjoyed full security prior to the aggression against Iran, calling on the international community to hold both parties accountable and “not to reverse the roles of aggressor and victim.”
He stressed that the current “no war, no peace” situation serves the interests of the Israeli entity, adding that conditions in the Strait of Hormuz “remain in a state of war.” He said it is not possible to restore maritime traffic to its previous state unilaterally due to repeated American ceasefire violations and threats to Iranian ports and vessels.
Baghaei reiterated that Iran is adopting a responsible approach to maritime navigation, noting that new security protocols have been prepared to ensure sustainable safety in the future and to prevent further attacks as a priority.
The Iranian spokesperson also emphasized that Iran does not recognize any deadlines or ultimatums, as it did not initiate the war, stating that its military actions fall within the framework of legitimate self-defense to protect national sovereignty.
He added that safeguarding national interests will continue as long as necessary, and that Iran’s armed forces will respond with strength and determination to any new escalation. He noted that all branches of the government are closely monitoring developments, stressing that caution in the diplomatic track is even more necessary than during wartime.
Baghaei also stated that nuclear knowledge represents a symbol of Iranian dignity, and affirmed that the issue of transferring uranium has never been put as an option for Iran during any stage of negotiations.
