The spokesperson for Iran’s “Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters” announced on Monday that the Iranian armed forces will take “necessary measures” against American forces in response to the American commando attack on the Iranian commercial vessel “Tosca” in the waters of the Sea of Oman.

Iranian state television published remarks from the spokesperson, who said: “Following the explicit aggression carried out by American terrorist commandos against the Iranian commercial vessel in the Sea of Oman waters, the armed forces were prepared for a decisive response immediately after the attack occurred. However, the presence of crew members’ families on board the ship, and concern for their safety and lives which were at risk, imposed temporary restrictions on the nature of the response.”

He added that “after confirming the safety of the families and crew, the powerful Iranian armed forces will take the necessary measures against the terrorist American military.”

In a previous statement, Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters described American actions as “maritime piracy” and a blatant violation of the ceasefire, stating that American forces disabled the ship’s navigation system and carried out a boarding operation on its deck. It also warned that Iranian armed forces would “soon respond to this armed piracy committed by American forces.”

The escalation comes in response to remarks attributed to American President Trump, who boasted that the American Navy “opened fire on an Iranian-flagged cargo ship and seized it for attempting to breach the American naval blockade in the Gulf of Oman.”

On Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a phone call with his Pakistani counterpart that threats to ports, ships, and escalating U.S. rhetoric “indicate bad intentions,” stressing that Tehran “will use all its capabilities to safeguard its national security and interests.”

In a clear message to international actors, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref stated that “the security of the Strait of Hormuz has a price,” adding: “Iranian oil exports cannot be restricted while others expect free protection.”

These developments follow an announcement by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps naval forces declaring the closure of the Strait of Hormuz until the lifting of the American blockade on Iranian ports, in response to Washington’s breach of ceasefire commitments.
