The Israeli newspaper "Maariv" acknowledged that "Israe"l's situation is worse than it was before Operation Lion's Roar on all fronts.
The newspaper stated: "We must start from the end: From now on, Israel is in a less favorable position than it was supposed to be. It is in a worse position regarding Lebanon and Gaza than it was on February 27th of this year."
It emphasized that "the contradictory statements of US President Donald Trump are confusing army officers: This is a very complicated situation. You don't know where we are going or what the direction is."
It quoted an "Israeli" army officer as saying: "You read a statement from him saying he is heading towards an offensive, and two minutes later you hear him in an interview saying the exact opposite. This is a very complicated situation. You don't know where you are going or what the direction is."
It noted that "the Israeli army is subject to restrictions imposed by the political echelon. The Israeli government is not currently making decisions regarding the policy of firing in Lebanon; that power rests with the White House in Washington."
The newspaper pointed out that recent days have witnessed a dramatic shift in the security situation across three fronts (Iran, Lebanon, and Yemen).
It added: "The security and military establishment observes that Hamas in Gaza is increasing its activity against the Israeli army along the Green Line, and simultaneously working rapidly to regain control of the territory."
It noted that the assessment in "Israel" is that the question is not whether fighting will resume, but when and on what scale.
It added sarcastically: "The question is to what extent Trump, who hasn't yet decided what he truly wants, will allow it."
