Yemen's national delegation head, Mohammed Abdulsalam, has expressed appreciation for the efforts of the UN envoy and all those who contributed to finalizing a prisoner exchange agreement in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

In a social media post on Thursday, Abdulsalam stated that "based on the Stockholm Agreement, and with God's help, the final lists of prisoners and detainees were signed in Amman, according to the agreement reached in the Sultanate of Oman in December 2025."

Details of the Agreement

Abdul Qader al-Murtadha, head of the National Committee for Prisoners' Affairs, confirmed that negotiations on the prisoner file have been successfully concluded in Amman.

"We have signed the lists of prisoners and detainees—1,100 prisoners and detainees from our side, and 580 from the other side, including seven Saudi prisoners and 20 Sudanese prisoners," al-Murtadha stated. He confirmed that the agreement will be implemented once the International Committee of the Red Cross completes its procedures.

The Stockholm Agreement, signed in December 2018, included provisions for a large-scale prisoner exchange as a confidence-building measure between Yemen and the US-Saudi aggression's parties. The latest negotiations, building on an earlier agreement reached in Oman in December 2025, represent a significant step toward fulfilling those commitments.

The inclusion of Saudi and Sudanese prisoners highlights the multinational dimensions of the Saudi-led aggression allies also holding detainees.
