Yemen’s General Corporation for Red Sea Ports reveals a sharp decline in ships porting to Hodeidah
The General Corporation for Red Sea Ports revealed a sharp decline in various import ships to Hodeidah port during the year 2018 AD due to the unjust blockades on the country.
The Corporation indicated that the various import ships retreated from 794 ships in 2014 to 191 at their lowest level in the year 2018, while merchandise imports declined from 6 million and 640 thousand tons in 2014 to 3 and a half million tons during the years of aggression and the blockade.
It added that the volume of fuel imports also fell in half and at the lowest level during the years of the blockade, as 75% of export activity ceased after its activity decreased from 227 thousand tons to 59 thousand tons.
It indicated that 12,000 employees and workers in the ports of Hodeidah were directly and indirectly affected by the consequences of the blockade.
Captain Isaac: Due to the wrong policies of the previous regime, Yemen’s foreign imports reached 90% of food and agricultural supplies, while Yemen is an agricultural country!
In turn, the head of the Hodeidah port union, Ali Rajeh, said that the number of direct workers in the port of Hodeidah reached 3400, and they were all affected by the siege, indicating that the unjust siege imposed on Yemen is more deadly than the bombs and missiles launched by the war of aggression.
Rajeh stressed that the embargo imposed on the country created hunger in the midst of the workers’ movement in ports and many today are unable to provide basic meals for his family members.
