Executive Director of the Yemeni Petroleum Company to Bukera:continued piracy against fuel ships would lead to a humanitarian catastrophe

Executive Director of the Yemeni Petroleum Company (YPC), Eng. Ammar Al-Adhra’i, met on Thursday with the World Food Program (WFP) Representative and Country Director in Yemen, Laurent Bukera.

The meeting discussed the humanitarian conditions experienced by the Yemeni people as a result of the continued detention of oil derivative ships by the Saudi-led aggression coalition countries.

The company’s executive director indicated that the continued detention of oil derivative ships hinders the transportation and delivery of medicines and food to citizens.

The continued piracy against fuel ships would lead to a humanitarian catastrophe, as many service and vital sectors stop providing their services, Al-Adhra’I added.

e pointed out that hundreds of premature newborns in nurseries are at risk as a result of the suspension of their oxygen supply ,indicating that the continued detention of fuel ships also threatens the lives of thousands of dialysis patients who need to be washed constantly.

The Executive Director of the Yemeni Oil Company stressed the importance of working on the entry of fuel ships, pointing out that their continued detention would negatively affect relief work in Yemen and lead to a humanitarian catastrophe threatening the Yemeni people.

For his part, the WFP representative confirmed his willingness to coordinate to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and to work for the release of fuel ships.
