Director of the National Center for Oncology: the Aggression Prevents Entry of Therapeutic Devices , Materials and Closed Sana’a Airport
Dr. Abdullah Thawabeh, the Director of the National Cancer Center and a consultant oncologist, confirmed that the cancer patient today receives more attention due to the interest of the political leadership that established the Cancer Control Fund, as well as the center’s recovery after seven years of aggression.
Dr. Thawabeh explained in an exclusive interview with Al-Thawra that the center provides ten thousand treatment services for cancer patients, and receives between 350-400 patients per day, noting that the cure rate in the center is 30% due to the late arrival of sick cases.
The Director of the National Center for Oncology pointed out that the center has a medical advisory staff with graduate degrees from universities abroad such as India, Egypt, Pakistan and Sudan, and a staff is currently being trained to cover the deficit in treatment centers in the governorates.
Dr. Thawabeh also thanked the private sector, which made great contributions to the oncology center and the cancer patient, pointing to the ideal coordination between the center and the rest of the sectors to provide free treatment to the patient, accommodation and other services.
Dr. Thawabeh reviewed the recently inaugurated and ongoing projects to serve the cancer patient in Yemen. At the conclusion of his speech to the Revolution, Dr. Thawabeh sent a message to cancer patients in Yemen about the necessity of receiving treatment early and before any procedure.
