UAE Explodes Humanity in Ukraine, Explodes bombs in Yemen

As soon as the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, launched an official appeal to fund the United Nations humanitarian operations in Ukraine, aid poured in from all sides towards Ukraine, even though the war had only passed for seven days, and the number of refugees did not reach a few thousand.

Providing aid to peoples in times of crises, especially wars, is a commendable and humane matter. The afflicted peoples feel that they are not alone, and that there are those who stand by them. It reduces their pain and strengthens the bonds of relations and human feeling between peoples.

Yet, what is remarkable about the international campaign to help the Ukrainian people is the position of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which announced US$5 million in humanitarian assistance to benefit civilians impacted by the situation in Ukraine.

It is also noteworthy that the UAE has underscored the importance of focusing on the deteriorating humanitarian situation for civilians, including by ensuring their protection, as well as preventing the unimpeded access for humanitarian agencies and actors and safe passage for those seeking to leave the country without discrimination or obstacles as stated during the UN Security Council’s meeting on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine on 28 February.

The UAE position regarding the harmed Ukrainian civilians can only be described as hypocritical. This country, along with Saudi Arabia and with US-British-Israeli support, have been committing massacres for the past seven years against the Yemeni people. They killed tens of thousands of children and women, destroyed the Yemeni infrastructure, and imposed a comprehensive siege on the Yemeni people. Then the Yemeni crisis turned into the largest human tragedy in the modern era, according to the testimony of the United Nations, where a Yemeni child dies every eight minutes.

The Emirates, which are crying over the besieged people in Ukraine and calling for safe corridors to be found, impose a suffocating siege on the Yemeni people, as there are no safe corridors in Yemen. The Emirates are sowing death in Yemen, in front of the hypocritical Western world, whose Security Council recently issued a resolution condemning Yemen because it is defending itself against the aggressors. This Council has been crying for the past seven days over the Ukrainian people, in front of the aggressors!, without providing a reason for separating the two aggressors.

However, the Western media was not as hypocritical as the Western governments. It explicitly revealed the reason for this distinction, when it asserted that Ukraine is blonde and civilized, while Yemen is brown and backward!

Saudi Arabia and the UAE, backed by the United States and regional allies, launched the war on Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power.

The war has left hundreds of thousands of Yemenis dead and displaced millions more. It has also destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases there.

As part of its economic war, the US-Saudi aggression worked to drain about 97% of the Yemeni state’s resources, either by controlling them militarily such as oil and gas sources, freezing Yemeni foreign assets and transferring them to mercenaries and financing coalition operations, or imposing siege on the vital port of Hodeidah and the most important port after Aden, which is still in the grip of Sana’a and out of control of the aggression.

The coalition of aggression continues to piracy, detaining fuel ships, and preventing them from entering the port of Hodeidah, despite obtaining permits from UN, which aggravates the humanitarian catastrophe due to the suspension of many vital service sectors, especially hospitals, electricity, water, cargo trucks, as well as waste trucks.
