President Al-Mashat meets investigation committee into tragic stampede incident in Sana’a
President Mahdi Al-Mashat, Head of the Supreme Political Council met the committee charged with investigating the painful stampede that claimed the lives of many citizens in the capital, Sana’a, at the end of last Ramadan.
At the outset of the meeting, which was attended by the Grand Mufti of Yemen, Allama Shams al-Din Sharaf al-Din, Parliament Speaker Yahya Ali al-Ra’i, Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs Lieutenant General Jalal al-Ruwaishan, and members of the Chamber of Commerce in Sana’a, everyone stood to read al-Fatihah on the victims’ souls.
During the meeting, President Al-Mashat listened to a briefing on the investigations carried out by the commission in charge, and its preliminary findings.
President Al-Mashat praised the haste and initiative of the commission in charge and its humanitarian role in consoling the victims’ families, treating the wounded, as well as consoling their families.
He directed the General Authority for Zakat and Merchants to continue assisting the victims’ families and follow up the treatment of the wounded in the painful stampede.
The President stressed the committee’s continuation of the investigation process to reach the reasons for the painful incident and the speedy completion of the final report, stressing that the tragedy that occurred revealed a tragic reality that witnessed the effects of the US-Saudi aggression, the blockade on the Yemeni people and the doubling of their suffering for eight years in a row.
President Al-Mashat also directed the formation of a committee headed by the advisor of the Supreme Political Council, Allama Muhammad Muftah, scholars, representatives of the concerned official authorities and the private sector to develop strategic solutions to train, empower the poor, and get them out of the circle of unemployment into production.
