Coverage| Siege and Power Outage in Gaza’s Hospitals Lead to Death of Children
Yousef Abu Al-Rish, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, shared the devastating news that six premature infants and nine individuals in the intensive care unit have passed away due to the power outage. Al-Shifa Hospital has been under constant Israeli siege and bombardment.
The dire toll has left many displaced individuals seeking refuge in Al-Shifa Hospital, where thousands have taken shelter.
Earlier, on Sunday evening, Abu Al-Rish announced the death of five premature babies and seven sick individuals. The hospital recently revealed that 39 premature babies were still under their care. Furthermore, a doctor from Doctors Without Borders reported that a staggering 17 patients were in the intensive care unit, awaiting vital treatment.
As the Israeli incursion into the western strip of Gaza City intensifies and hospitals fall further into siege, the battle for survival continues for the fifth consecutive week. The Al-Aqsa flood battle, which has seen a relentless exchange of attacks, has resulted in an overwhelming loss of life and destruction for the people of Gaza.
