Iran Denies Claims of Seized Military Shipment to Yemen, Calls Allegations Baseless
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday denied media reports claiming the seizure of an Iran-manufactured military shipment bound for Yemen, dismissing them as baseless and false.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei stated that these allegations are part of a broader disinformation campaign aimed at tarnishing Iran’s image and creating discord, coinciding with US officials’ visits to the region.
“We have no military presence in Yemen, and the weapons in this country have no connection to Iran,” he asserted.
US CENTCOM claimed that a shipment contained Iranian weapon components, drones, and communications gear that was destined for Yemen through Red Sea.
For years, accusations of Iranian military support to Yemen have been a key element in the broader geopolitical tensions surrounding the region. The United States, Saudi Arabia, and their allies have repeatedly claimed that Iran supplies weapons to Yemen’s Ansarullah, a charge that Tehran has consistently denied.
