The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, said in a statement issued today, Friday, commenting on the recent statements made by the dismissed head of the Israeli Shin Bet, Ronen Bar, that the latter’s statements reveal “the criminal enemy’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s deliberate manipulation of the negotiations file and his efforts to thwart any agreement, then to disrupt it after it is reached, for his own political purposes.”
Hamas believed that these confessions from within the enemy leadership confirm that “Netanyahu was and remains the real obstacle to any exchange deal,” noting that “Netanyahu’s attempts to exclude influential security figures from the negotiations reflect his internal crisis and the deepening crisis of trust between him and his security establishment, and reveal his lack of seriousness in reaching a real agreement.” The movement noted that
the Shin Bet chief’s statements confirm that “Netanyahu sought to engineer formal negotiations used to stall and buy time, without achieving tangible results.”
It emphasized that “American officials must stop holding Hamas responsible for disrupting the agreements and pointing the finger at Netanyahu, who bears direct responsibility for the continued suffering of the prisoners and their families.”
It also held “the criminal Netanyahu and his extremist government fully responsible for prolonging the suffering of the Israeli prisoners and their families,” stressing that the only way to release the prisoners is to “stop the aggression, return to negotiations, and implement the agreement, far from failed political maneuvering.”
Hamas’s comment came after the Shin Bet chief sent a letter to the Israeli government following its unanimous decision to dismiss him, in which he leveled numerous accusations against Netanyahu.
In his letter, Bar addressed the claim that the loss of trust between him and Netanyahu stems from the management of the prisoner issue, saying: “Without going into details, I note that the prisoner release deal that was recently concluded was the result of a special effort that I personally led, with the knowledge of the prime minister. The deal was carried out in accordance with the goals set by the prime minister, was presented to the government for approval, and was approved with his support.”
He added: “Therefore, there is no basis for the claim of a lack of trust between me and the prime minister, unless the true intention—which I may have failed to understand—was to enter into negotiations without the intention of concluding the deal.”
He emphasized that removing the Mossad chief and his removal from leading the negotiations harmed the team and did nothing to contribute to the release of the prisoners. Therefore, the prime minister’s claim in this regard is baseless.
On Thursday, Hamas announced that talks are continuing with mediators regarding a halt to the Israeli aggression and efforts to compel the enemy to agree to an agreement and force it to abandon its plan.
