The Government Media Office warned that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has entered a phase of complete humanitarian collapse due to the systematic blockade and starvation policy imposed by the Israeli enemy forces on civilians for more than six months, particularly with the complete and deliberate cessation of humanitarian aid for more than a month and a half.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the government media said that the Gaza Strip is currently experiencing a true humanitarian catastrophe and a clear famine, in which hunger directly threatens the lives of the civilian population, most notably more than 1,100,000 children suffering from severe malnutrition, amidst the lack of food, water scarcity, the near-total deterioration of the health system, and the deprivation of the minimum necessities of life.

It added, “The scenes of long queues at the remaining food distribution points have become a tragic daily occurrence in all governorates of the Gaza Strip in light of the occupation’s targeting of more than 37 aid distribution centers and 28 food banks, which were bombed and put out of service as part of a systematic plan to impose a policy of starvation as a tool of war against civilians.”

It emphasized that what is happening in Gaza is not a temporary crisis, but rather an organized crime of starvation that amounts to a war crime, perpetrated by enemy forces with international complicity and silence, particularly from countries that provide political and military cover for the enemy’s perpetration of the crime of genocide, which more than 2,400,000 Palestinians in Gaza are living.

Regarding humanitarian aid, government media indicated that the enemy continues to prevent the entry of any relief or fuel trucks into Gaza, while thousands of trucks loaded with aid have been piling up at the crossings for weeks, preventing them from reaching those who deserve them.

It pointed out that this tight blockade does not exclude any aspect of daily life and undermines the basics of survival, exacerbating the humanitarian catastrophe facing more than 2.4 million people in the Gaza Strip and threatening an unprecedented, comprehensive collapse.

It stated that service and humanitarian facilities are on the verge of complete collapse. Hospitals are operating at limited capacity and without medicine or fuel, and it is likely that all hospitals will cease operations within the next two weeks due to the lack of fuel.

Iy added: “Bakeries have also stopped operating due to a lack of flour or operating sources, and water stations have stopped pumping due to fuel shortages and the deliberate cutting off of electricity, especially to desalination plants.”

State media warned of the risk of mass deaths at any moment due to hunger, lack of healthcare, and the spread of disease.

It called for urgent international action to stop the crime of genocide and ethnic cleansing, and to pressure the enemy to end the unjust blockade of the Gaza Strip, open the crossings, and allow the entry of humanitarian aid and fuel without restrictions in accordance with international law and international humanitarian law.
