The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said that the Israeli enemy authorities have prevented international media from entering Gaza, which fuels propaganda and media disinformation.

Lazzarini added in a post on  “X” website on Thursday, “Since the start of the war a year and a half ago, the Israeli authorities have prevented international media from entering Gaza to cover events independently, which fuels propaganda and media disinformation and spreads dehumanization.” He explained that Palestinian journalists continue their heroic work and are paying a heavy price, with 170 of them killed so far.

He pointed out that the free flow of information and independent reporting is essential for truth and accountability during conflicts, adding: “At the same time, reliable accounts and eyewitness accounts from relief organizations are being questioned.”

Lazzarini emphasized that “Gaza should not be an exception. It is time to allow international media into the Strip.”

Earlier this month, UNRWA reported that 1.9 million people have been forcibly displaced in the Gaza Strip.

Since March 18, Israel has resumed its war of extermination on Gaza, reneging on a 58-day ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas, brokered by Qatar and Egypt and supported by the United States.

With American support, the enemy army has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 166,000 dead and wounded. Most of them are children and women, and more than 14,000 are missing.
