Iranian Foreign Ministry: Fully prepared to take further defensive measures

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran confirmed in a statement regarding the defensive operations of the armed forces against the Zionist entity, in which it confirmed its readiness to take further defensive measures in order to protect its legitimate interests and defend its sovereignty against any military aggression and illegal use of force, and will not hesitate in this regard .

It said in this statement that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in line with the exercise of the inherent right to legitimate defense, under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, and in response to the aggressive actions of the Zionist entity, including the attack on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the martyrdom of the head of the Political Bureau of the Hamas movement in Tehran, who was an official guest of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the martyrdom of the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah and senior Iranian military advisor, Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan in Beirut, carried out a series of missile attacks on military and security targets and facilities belonging to the Zionist entity this evening, Tuesday.

It added that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s resort to the right of legitimate defense, after a long period of self-restraint, shows Iran’s responsible approach to regional and international peace and security at a time when the illegal and genocidal actions of the Zionist apartheid regime against the Palestinian people and the repeated military aggressions of the entity on Lebanon and Syria continue.

It reiterated the responsibility of the supporters and providers of funds and weapons to the occupying entity to stop the insane actions of the leaders of the Zionist entity, warning against the entry of any third party, calling on the UN Security Council to take immediate and purposeful measures to prevent the continued threats to regional and international peace and security by the Israeli entity.
