The Zionist "Security" Minister, the War Crimnal Itamar Ben-Gvir, invaded the town of Silwan, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, on Tuesday evening. Accompanied by a group of Zionist settlers, his invasion was secured under heavy guard provided by Zionist enemy forces.
Al-Quds-based sources reported that the Zionist forces closed the roads leading to the Bab al-Asbat area and the Ras al-Amud neighborhood in Silwan. This coincided with settlers entering the Islamic cemetery located near the neighborhood.
The Bab al-Rahma cemetery and other historic Islamic burial grounds extending along the eastern walls of the Al-Aqsa Mosque are subject to repeated entries by settlers under the protection of the Zionist forces. These incidents have included acts of vandalism, such as breaking tombstones and altering parts of the cemetery grounds.
The area is also the site of ongoing excavation attempts and Judaization projects, including the establishment of biblical gardens and tourist pathways over parts of the Islamic cemeteries. Additionally, the location is sometimes used as a security control point, which restricts local residents' free access to the area.
Silwan is considered one of the most sensitive areas in Al-Quds due to its location adjacent to the Old City, bordering the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the south and southeast. This positioning makes it a continuous focus for settlement projects and efforts to alter the demographic reality of the area.
The Zionist enemy's "military" continues to impose restrictions on Al-Quds and its residents, amid a broader field situation characterized by frequent operations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, including large-scale entries and measures aimed at establishing a new reality in the city.
