A number of British universities joined their American counterparts and joined the global student movement in support of Palestine and denouncing the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
The demonstrators expressed their solidarity with their fellow sit-ins and demonstrators at American universities in support of Palestine.
As student protests expand in the United States, students at the universities of Newcastle, Bristol, Warwick, Leeds, Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam have begun organizing events that include vigils and setting up tents in and around university buildings.
The protesters at British universities, including students and employees, expressed their support for their protesting counterparts in other countries by gathering in open areas and setting up tents inside their universities, demanding their university administrations end cooperation with companies that supply “Israel” with weapons.
Clips of a protest organized by students at the University of Cambridge in Britain were spread across social media, demanding that the institution’s management withdraw its investments and stop its cooperation with “Israel.”
As for the University of Newcastle, evening gatherings were announced, while students camped at the University of Bristol to protest the administration, which they accused of complicity in the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinians.
