Disclosure of the Yemeni Aviation Sector losses during five years of aggression
The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology estimated the direct losses of the infrastructure of the Yemeni aviation sector due to aggression and siege at one billion and 700 million dollars, while the losses of the airlines, the air freight sector and the travel sector were estimated at more than two billion and 800 million dollars.
“The decrease in the revenues of the air sector as a result of the aggression and the blockade is about 520 million and 500 thousand dollars,” the head of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology Dr. Mohamed Abdulqader said on Sunday.
Abdulqader pointed out that 80% of the aviation sector workers lost their jobs due to the aggression, the blockade and the closure of Yemen’s airspace
“The Yemeni Airlines losses amounted to more than one billion and 550 million dollars and the losses of Al-Saidah Aviation 86 million dollars,” he added. indicating that the losses of the travel and air freight sectors and automated reservation systems exceeded 657 million dollars.
The head of the General Authority of Civil Aviation stressed that the siege paralyzed civil aviation since the first day of the aggression and the acts of air piracy for civil and humanitarian flights.
He pointed out that the coalition of aggression intentionally destroyed almost all Yemeni civil airports, navigational devices and meteorological stations.
For his part, the head of the General Authority for Land Transport Regulatory Affairs Walid Al-Wadei pointed out that the losses of the land transport sector as a result of targeting infrastructure exceeded $ 6 million.
He indicated that the looted revenues as a result of the occupation of the Al-Wadiah outlet in Hadramout and Shahan outlet in Al-Mahrah amounted to $ 75 million and $ 241,000.
