Iraqi Parliament to Meet Next Week to Vote on Al-Kazemi Government

The Iraqi Council of Representatives announced, Saturday, its intention to hold a meeting next week to vote on the government of Mustafa Al-Kazemi.

The sources stated that the meeting will be to vote on Mustafa Al-Kazemi’s government, after the law’s coalition officially announced that there will be no voting in the candidate’s government, which will make the status of this government a very difficult path to obtain the granting of confidence.

In addition to this official announcement, the statements of the head of the Al-Fateh parliamentary bloc, that Al-Kazimi repeated the mistakes of the former commissioner in the mechanism of selecting the candidates, further complicated and darkened the future of Al-Kazemi’s government.

With only a few days left until the parliamentary session was held to vote on granting confidence to the Al-Kazemi government, the announcement of a non-vote on trust by Allawi on the one hand and the Turkmen on the other hand, enhances the possibility of others from political parties and groups joining opponents of the government.

Although 168 of the 319 votes in Parliament are sufficient to support the Al-Kazemi government and it seems that it is possible to obtain the required number up to the moment, but given the complexities pending in Iraq and the private vision of the government and the ministerial formation, it appears that Al-Kazemi has time to overcome the current problems on the one hand and make efforts to prevent further loss of votes, on the other hand.

This comes after Mustafa Al-Kazemi finished preparing his ministerial team and sending the government formation to parliament for review, while the responses were characterized by a kind of acceptance, without the presence of strong opposition political blocs.
