The Water Corporation in the Capital, Sanaa, Condemns Targeting the Water, Sewage Networks
The Local Corporation for Water and Sanitation in Amanat Al-Asimah condemned the continued targeting and destruction of drinking water and sanitation networks by the US-Saudi aggression coalition.
In a statement, the Foundation explained that the aggression targeted the main line carrying the water network on Al-Zubayri Street with Baghdad, which led to significant damage to the network and stopped pumping drinking water to citizens in all neighborhoods and lanes of Baghdad and Al-Zubayri regions.
It stressed that targeting the service and vital sectors, including the water sector – which is the main source of lifeline – and insisting on depriving millions of citizens of drinking water, reflects the criminality and ugliness of aggression, and its stripping of all humanitarian and moral values and principles.
It denounced the systematic and deliberate targeting of civilians and the infrastructure of the Yemeni people and all the necessities of life, in light of dubious international complicity and silence, pointing out that these crimes and blatant violations contradict all international and humanitarian values, charters and laws.
The statement noted that the aggression’s targeting of the infrastructure of the water and sanitation sector will not discourage the institution from performing its tasks and responsibilities in improving its services and expanding water projects to alleviate the suffering of citizens as a result of the aggression and the siege.
It called on the international community and humanitarian and human rights organizations to condemn the crimes and violations of the aggression and to intervene urgently to stop the aggression and lift the siege.
